Throwback Post # 8 - God Is Love

The Great Commandments, love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength and love your neighbor as yourself, are the beginning and end of being a disciple of Christ. True love, as we are called to show God and our neighbors by these commandments, is only knowable if one knows the triune God.

For from eternity past God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit have been in a constant dance of love and service towards one another. Each person of the Trinity continually, selflessly loves the other 2 persons.  This is why we can say ‘God is love’, because his very being and essence is love.

So for us to follow the Great Commandments is to follow God in that dance that has been going on for eternity, so that we might experience love as we were meant to and for us to show love as we were meant to, all the while glorifying God by doing his will.
